Standards for Satisfactory Progress

Students are expected to arrive on time and participate in course discussions. Successful completion of the course of study requires 100% attendance.

A pre-certification exam is provided at the conclusion of the course, and students must score the minimum of a 71% on the exam to receive a certificate of completion. Students who score a 91% or above will receive an expert designation seal on their certificate.

Academic Probation

Students who score below a 71% on their precertification exam but above a 60% will be placed on academic probation and have the opportunity to work directly with instructors on the sections of their score report that show a weakness. This may include additional reading, lab work, or one-on-one instruction to assist the student. The student will be given the opportunity to retake the precertification exam after a period of two weeks has passed at no cost.

Academic Suspension

Due to the fact that the courses offered by PEAK Institute are, for the most part, no longer than one week in length, academic suspension would be instituted if the student fails to attend a class.

Students have the opportunity to attend the next class for the course they enrolled in if their failure to attend falls under a reasonable cause.

If the student fails to provide a reasonable cause for their absence, they will be terminated from the program. The student has the right to appeal this decision with the director of education. The appeal must be submitted in writing within one week of the notice of suspension or termination

Student Conduct and Conditions for Dismissal

PEAK Institute is in a professional office complex and as such all students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and professional manner. Any student not conducting themselves in an orderly and professional manner, which includes use of drugs and alcohol during school hours, dishonesty, disrupting classes, use of profanity, excessive tardiness, insubordination, violation of safety rules, improper usage of lab or classroom computers, or not abiding by the school rules will lead to either probation or dismissal from classes.

Re-Entrance

Any student who has dropped out of the program, or suspended for nonattendance may be re-admitted within one year by completing a personal interview with the director of education and paying all fees due at the time of readmission. Students who were terminated due to conduct issues are not eligible to be re-admitted.

Attendance

Students are expected to arrive on time and participate in course discussions. Successful completion of the course of study requires 100% attendance. If during the course period the student’s attendance level drops below 80%, they will be placed on academic suspension and given the opportunity to attend the next class for the course they enrolled in.

Leave of Absence

Students may request a leave of absence at any point during their studies. In order to receive a leave of absence, a student must submit a written notice to the school explaining the reason they are not able to attend school. If a student fails to notify the school director of their leave of absence, the student may be dismissed from the course for lack of attendance. Students wishing to return to classes after a leave of absence must contact the school director. The school director and student will both determine when and if the student will return to classes.

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete all coursework and score a minimum of 71% on their precertification exam to be awarded a certificate of completion. Students who score a 91% or above will receive an expert designation seal on their certificate.

Should the student grade fall below 71%, but above 60%, they will be offered a refresher course as outlined in the academic probation section of this document.

Student Records

All student evaluations and grades are maintained by the school for a period of five years. Student transcripts are kept in a secure online storage facility permanently and are protected from fire, theft and other perils. All records of admission and respective financial documentation will be maintained by the school for a period of at least three (3) years.

School Calendar

PEAK Institute operates on a non-traditional term. We do not utilize the conventional academic calendar of quarters or semesters. Each program varies in length with a timeframe between 16 hours and 40 hours. Please refer to the course’s detailed schedule for specifics.

Inclement weather preventing the school from opening will result in classes being rescheduled to the next open day. Students will have to opportunity to reschedule if this conflicts with their availability.

The following holidays are observed and no classes are held:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day (first Monday in September)
  • Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November)
  • Christmas Day

The school reserves the right to amend their calendar at any time.

Enrollment Dates

A student may enroll at any time within one week of the start of a new class.

Schedule of Fees

The course schedule of fees has been simplified to reflect $62.50 (sixty-two dollars and fifty cents) per clock hour of training, including all course materials and labs. State or industry certification exams are in addition to the above stated fee.

For example, the Microsoft Technology Associate: Networking Fundamentals course is 16 clock hours. The cost of this particular course would be $1,000.00 (one thousand dollars) and include all course materials, lab fees and administrative fees.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Rejection: An applicant rejected by the school is entitled to a refund of all monies paid.

Three-Day Cancellation: An applicant who provides written notice of cancellation within three (3) business day, excluding weekends and holidays, of executing the enrollment agreement is entitled to a refund of all monies paid, excluding the $100 non-refundable registration fee.

Other Cancellations: An application requesting cancellation more than three (3) days after executing the enrollment agreement and making an initial payment, but prior to the first day of class is entitled to a refund of all monies paid, less a maximum tuition fee of 15% of the stated cost of the course or $100, whichever is less.

Withdrawal Procedure:

  1. A student choosing to withdraw from the school after the commencement of classes is to provide a written notice to the Director of the school. The notice must include the expected last date of attendance and be signed and dated by the student.
  2. If special circumstances arise, a student may request, in writing, a leave of absence, which should include the date the student anticipates the leave beginning and ending. The withdrawal date will be the date the student is scheduled to return to from the leave of absence but fails to do so.

For your help! I am eager to begin study for the next steps. Adrian has helped outline a course of study that will eventually lead to the PRO-exam 70-565. I understand this will take a while to accomplish — so I’m in this for the long run, and look forward to working with your organization in the future.”

“Looking for a job in a poor economy, I felt I needed to distinguish myself from the pack and my NT4.0 MCSE was just not going to be sufficient. I needed to upgrade my MCSE to 2003 as quickly as possible, but also as cost effectively as I could. Using the material from PEAK I was able to go through the material and complete 8 courses in about 6 weeks of hard-focused effort. I am now an MCSE+Security on Windows 2003, and have just begun the courses to upgrade to an MCITP: Enterprise Administrator 2008. This has been, easily, the fastest and most cost effective way to complete these certifications while retaining the maximum amount of knowledge. PEAK is not a “boot camp” to pass the tests. It’s a solid way to learn.”

I give you and your customer service a very high A+! If you update your Cisco video courses I HIGHLY recommend (your instructor) Steve Dugan. He not only holds one’s interest, let’s you learn from his unscripted teaching (aka mistakes, but that leads to learning to troubleshoot situations that you wouldn’t even see on other’s videos), but really is a good video speaker/teacher. I will recommend your products to anyone I come in contact with.

“I have spent the better part of this day studying with your course. The content has been wonderful – easy to follow and very enjoyable. I have used CBT Nuggets to study and also a Sybex study guide for Vista. My impression is that your data is more up to date, and for this I am grateful. I’m delighted that I found your site with a google search. Thank you for the excellent CBT!”

“I’m 100% satisfied with the training program. I love that it’s broken into manageable sections. This is an all-inclusive training solution… they give you the manuals, the lectures broken into short segments, and practice tests that really mirror the actual tests I’ve taken. I plan to renew my membership!!”

“The CompTIA A+ course not only prepared me for the CompTIA A+ exam, but it also made my work as a PC Technician easier. I have learned so much about how to repair a machine PROPERLY from this course that I would recommend it to all PC Tech’s looking not only to pass CompTIA’s A+ exam, but to all PC Tech’s who want to be the best in the field. The instructor really knows his stuff. Thanks!”

“This course is extremely well presented. The instructor is clear and concise, provides a wealth of knowledge and explains the real world applications. The CEH course is definitely for anyone who is serious about Computer Security. I would recommend this course to anyone presently doing programming who wishes to get a better understanding of the different classes of a hacker and the procedures in which a “cracker” (Black Hat Hacker) goes through to gain access into any system. I am having a blast going through this course– and I am going to complete it ahead of time!”
