CCWA LogoWhy Choose a Career in the Technology Industry?

The career outlook for job growth in the technology industry is reaching record highs. For example, based on information provided by the United States Bureau of Labor statistics, Network and Systems Administrators have an expected growth outlook of 28% for the 2010-20 timeframe, which is 14% above the national average for job rate projections. Based on WIA listings, Computer professions are a high demand occupation.

Information Assurance falls under the category of “very high” demand. The increased cyber-attacks over the past two (2) years have shown a specific need for enhanced security to reduce corporate and federal liabilities. In fact, there are over 300,000 open Information Technology jobs in the United States as of January 2012 (Indeed.com).

Our program aligns with the Department of Defense Directive 8570.1. Why is that important?

Public and private sector employment opportunities are now following these specifications for identifying minimum baseline certification requirements for the benefit of employers as well as job seekers and employees alike to be considered for employment, promotion, and retention. Moreover, all levels of government and government contractors are required to adhere to 8570.1 standards, which is of particular importance here in Virginia where we have such a heavy concentration of both.
